Research Argument Evaluation .

Research Argument Evaluation .Attention getter and Introduction: The possibilities are endless for effective and creative attention getters. You can select to write about a story of harm done to the environment based around the theme of your selected video. Or, you can begin with a reflection. You can present actual facts about the environmental destruction in a dramatic way. In other words, you can highlight the loss to humans and to animals from the very beginning. The more harms you highlight the greater your chance is of capturing your audience?s attention. Please keep in mind that the sooner your capture your readers? attentions (or the Sharks? attentions), the greater your chance is of being convincing.Description of video and thesis statement In the beginning of your essay, you need to clearly describe what is happening in the video. You need to carefully balance the description. Too much description and your reader is overwhelmed. Too little and your reader is uninformed. Remember, the sharks need enough information to get them interested within a few minutes. The reader will be looking to evaluate the essay based on the following: The video is described very clearly thus enabling the reader to visualize it. In your thesis statement, you present your evaluation of the video voicing your view about its excellence. You explain how it has the potential to call attention to a harm done to the environment. You present reasons why the video is effective. The judgment and reasons will be your thesis statement. For your body paragraphs, you can structure and order them according to your own creative and logical ways of thinking. However, 1 ? at least one body paragraph needs to present the true story of the harm being done to humans, animals, sources, etc. (This requirement can be fulfilled by the attention getter) 2 ? at least three body paragraphs must present your argument about why the video is superior. Since you are trying to prove to the sharks that your video is worthy, you may want to place these paragraphs in the beginning, but it is up to you. 3 ? at least one body paragraph should present the actions that are already being taken to help remedy the issue. This way, you can show your audience that there is actually hope for people to listen and to do something about the issue. On tv, the sharks always ask if people have bought the product being proposed. You will need to convince them using examples that something is being done. If not enough is being done, you can still use that fact to your advantage in order to convince them that the video needs to be even more urgently shown. 4 ? at least one paragraph needs to address any doubts about the quality of the video. You will anticipate their doubts, acknowledge them, see the video from the doubters? perspectives, and then defend your own ideas with strong ethos. At all times, choose the structure that best meets your purposes. For requirement #2 ? at least three body paragraphs must present your argument about why the video is superior. Since you are trying to prove to the sharks that your video is worthy, you may want to place these paragraphs in the beginning, but it is up to you. This is what you need to keep in mind:Proving the effectiveness of the Video, the reader will be evaluating the essay for the following: 1. The writer?s voice ? the writer?s well informed and carefully thought out opinions ? are what move the essay along. At all times, it is clear to the reader what the writer?s position on the argument is. 2. The transitions effectively bridge the main idea from the previous paragraph to the main ideas of the new paragraph. The topic sentence clearly alerts the reader to the main idea of the paragraph. 3. The sentences within the body paragraph are connected smoothly from one to the next. 4. Body paragraphs are well transitioned from one to the next. 5. All the sentences are clear; the writer?s message is not lost in the faulty wording or the grammatical errors. 6. Specific images or words in the video are described very clearly. Any reader who has not seen the video can easily understand what the video looks like. 7. At all times, the writer provides very clear analysis of the meaning of the colors, symbols, objects, position of objects and items, word choices and their positions, the use of people or animals, and other important elements in the videos. 8. At all times, the writer evaluates the video. He or she presents a clear argument about why and how the video is of superior quality. 9. The topic of each paragraph is well focused from start to finish. 10. Use of research within these three body paragraphs (and throughout the whole essay) is relevant, credible, accurate, and ethical. 11. The writer effectively brings the body paragraph to a close. For requirement #3 ? at least one body paragraph should present the actions that are already being taken to help remedy the issue. This way, you can show your audience that there is actually hope for people to listen and to do something about the issue. On tv, the sharks always ask if people have bought the product being proposed. You will need to convince them using examples that something is being done. If not enough is being done, you can still use that fact to your advantage in order to convince them that the video needs to be even more urgently shown.Solutions / Actions (at least one paragraph) One paragraph should be about solutions and or actions that are being taken to solve the problem: At all times, be carefully bridging from one paragraph to the next. Present facts about what is being done to solve the environmental problem. Are these actions enough to meet the concerns posed by the video? Make sure all ideas within the paragraphs are linked well. For requirement #4 ? at least one paragraph needs to address any doubts about the quality of the video. You will anticipate their doubts, acknowledge them, see the video from the doubters? perspectives, and then defend your own ideas with strong ethos. Present the possible concerns people may have about the video or your choice. How would they question its effectiveness? Respond to concerns people may raise and then respond to these concerns. Conclusion: The possibilities for an effective and creative conclusion are endless. The conclusion effectively brings the ideas of the essay to a close. The conclusion is not a quick summary of all that has been discussed. The conclusion may end creatively with a narrative. It may end with a reflection of what the future may be like. It may end with a story of what a better world may be like. It may end with a depiction of what the world may look like if the particular environmental concern you have discussed is not taken care of. It may end on a positive note where the issue has been resolved.Use of research in the essay: 1.
